THE HUNTING LIFE: BROOKS TILLER

Tiller: My name is Brooks Tiller. I’m originally from Hohenwald, Tennessee and now I live just south of Nashville. Above all, I’m a husband and a father, but to pay the bills I do some physical therapy, strength coach and have a few other odd and end things we are doing, including helping my wife run her business.

Tiller: Everybody talks about work-life balance and everything, and I don’t look at it as a balance. It’s really life. I kind of categorize it. There’s four H’s if you will in life that I look at it: Heaven, home, health and then hunting. Every day it’s really just making sure that I’m doing what’s the best for my family.

Tiller: I started hunting when I was little. Just being with my dad and granddad and learning from them and from that it’s just been just a love and a passion. Just anytime I can, just get out there and spend some time and get a good breath of fresh air.

Tiller: My granddad had a stroke and wound up having a few months where he was in the nursing home. You know, a few years before that his health had been declining off and on, and when I was 17 he passed away just a little bit before my 18th birthday. And he was one of the most influential men in my life. I think we all have to. We all look at other people. Whether it’s our dad, our granddad, we all had somebody who took us hunting for the first time.

Tiller: You want to have a mentor, but then you want to be a mentor. And I think it’s important today as far as hunting because we want to pass that on and I think it’s a great thing to do. Just pass it on to the next generation.
